Angel Project

The Angel Project began thirteen years ago, and in that time has grown wings and touched the lives of many adults and children.

The purpose of the project is simple: create community through caring.  To do this, Bethel members, friends, and volunteers in North Portland join together to help others in need with food and gifts for their children at Christmas.  The program also receives donations for the families of the children.  Coats, gloves, toys, gift cards for groceries and goods, gift wrap, home-baked cookies, toiletries and food.  Most items are donated outright or for a very small fee.

The Angel Project works with businesses faithful to the project and recruits new partners whom understand the neighborhodd needs.  Students from the local high schools help in wrapping gifts, packing food boxes, and loading vehicles.

2009 was a record year with 45 families and 163 children benefitting from the project.
