Seasons of the Church

Like nature with its familiar seasons we too have seasons here at Bethel. They are:

Advent

The beginning of the church year Advent’s color is blue.
Christmas

Not just a day, Christmas is a whole season celebrating Jesus’ birth. Christmas’ color is white.
Epiphany

A season celebrating the appearance of the Star that led the sages from the east to Jesus. Epiphany begins with the bright white and then transforms itself into green.
Lent

An ancient season of the church set aside for preparation for the Easter resurrection. The church is decorated with purple.
Easter

The season commemorating the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The color of Easter is White or Gold.
Pentecost

Pentecost Celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost Sunday is Red. The season of Pentecost lasts till Advent. The Sundays after Pentecost Sunday are green and sometimes this period of several months is referred to as “Ordinary Time”. The season of Pentecost lasts until Advent.
