WORSHIP ON SUNDAYS

“Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy.”

Bethel Lutheran Church is a liturgical church. Liturgy means work of the people. I think liturgy is a fancy word for rhythm. We use the Revised Common Lectionary, which means we have specific readings that are used each Sunday. If you attended worship every Sunday for three years you would read about 90% of the Bible. If you would like a Lectionary you can call Bethel and we will send one out to you or visit the ELCA web site at www.ELCA.org . .

WORSHIP AT BETHEL

Beginning with Moses and all the prophets, Jesus interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures. When he sat at table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.
Luke 24:27, 30 & 31

SUNDAY MORNING

We are a diverse group of individuals who gather together at the foot of the cross each Sunday morning for worship. Our schedule follows the seasons: from the Sunday after Labor Day through mid-June worship begins at 11:00 am. From Mid-June through Labor Day worship begins as 10:00 am.

We do not agree on every issue of the day but we believe that God calls us together. It is in that moment when the “I” becomes a “We”. When coming together for corporate worship we see the baptismal font that reminds us of not only “who” we are but also “whose” we are. Our worship is marked by a pattern of gathering together, sharing The Word and Sacraments, and the sending out for service to the world. While at worship you are invited, like Jesus invited his followers, to eat and drink during the Lord’s Supper. Like everything we do at Bethel children are always welcome at worship.

Prayer Station

Prayer in the Bethel community is an intentional activity. We have an active prayer chain that receives prayer concerns each week, and individuals who pray daily for the well being of God’s people, the world, and all in need.At

the prayer station in the back of Bethel’s sanctuary are a book and a rack of candles. When you visit, feel free to pray silently and light a candle. You may also write your prayer concern in the book – take as much or as little space as you need. This prayer will be incorporated into the community’s prayer life each week for a month.

You may also contact Pastor Glenn or the church office and ask for prayers. May God’s grace fill your life and go with you on your journey.
